Products Overview

Nex Flow® Air Knife Systems utilize compressed air for industrial blow off and cooling applications. They are used extensively to replace rows of air nozzles or jets or drilled pipes to reduce energy. The curtain-like airflow of the Air Knife is an efficient way to dry, clean, and cool.  Energy reduction using air knives can be anywhere from 30% to 90% depending on the application, and can have. noise reduction of 10 to 15 dBA or more.

Air knives are “linear” air amplifiers that consist of a body with a plenum chamber, a cap, and either a machined gap in the body or a shim to maintain an even gap along the length of the air knife. The goal is to produce the highest force/air consumption ratio.   In addition, you want to be able to get the most force over its length at the lowest possible input pressure as that also lowers compressed air cost. The Nex Flow® X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives accomplishes that better than any competitive products. The X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives are 25% more efficient than the older design of the Standard Air Blade® Air knives, and also have a significantly lower noise level.

Applications include:

  • Removal of excess oils, liquids, and dust from flat and curved surfaces
  • Part Drying after wash
  • Conveyor cleaning
  • Component or Parts Cooling
  • Drying or Cleaning of Moving Webs
  • Environmental Separation (air barriers)
  • Blowoff in pre-paint systems
  • Bag opening in filling applications
  • Scrap Removal in converting operations

Nex Flow® Air Knife Systems come in two Versions….

Silent X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives

Air Knife® in anodized aluminum, which is the most popular version and is utilized in most applications.

In Hard Anodized Aluminum ideal for applications in very oily environments or when materials may drag across the air knives

In 303/304 Stainless Steel for applications in high temperature and in environments that can be corrosive

In 316L Stainless Steel for very corrosive environments as well as for food and pharmaceutical grade and high temperature applications.

25% more efficient in energy use and lower noise level than Standard Versions.  Energy reduction in compressed air use 30% to 90% and noise reductions of up to 15 dbA.  Available in Anodized Aluminum for most applications, Hard Anodized aluminum if dealing with possible abrasion issues and oil mist environments, 303/304 stainless steel for high temperature and corrosive environments and 316L for high temperature, corrosive and food grade/pharmaceutical grade applications

Standard Air Blade® Air Knives

Air Knife® in anodized aluminum suitable for most applications and in 303/304 Stainless Steel for high temperature and corrosive environments

Built and designed for significantly longer life in difficult environments than many competing products by anodizing the aluminum body.  Stainless steel shim maintains gap integrity longer than plastic shims

Flexible mounting options and easy to fit in small spaces.
Energy reduction in compressed air use up to 90% and noise reductions of 10 dbA.
Maintenance free with output easily controlled and safe to use

SUPERIOR TO OTHER COMPRESSED AIR OPERATED AIR KNIVES:

Nex Flow®’s unique chamber design in the X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives gives it one of the most efficient force/air consumption ratios on the market.  When compared to our nearest competitor, the X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knife gives the same force and has the same air consumption at 60 PSI line pressure as the competitor has at 80 PSI line pressure.  Because it requires 10% less energy to produce air at 60 PSI than at 80 PSI that makes the Nex Flow® significantly more efficient because you can do the same job at less pressure!

One of the biggest complaints with compressed air operated air knives is the use of  plastic shims to maintain the gap, because that they tend to wear out quickly.  Nex Flow® only uses stainless steel shims to guarantee longer life.

All air knives are designed to meet OSHA maximum dead-end pressure and noise requirements.
