Product Overview

The X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knife from Nex Flow® is an extremely efficient compressed air operated air knife.   It is very easy to install using mounting holes on unit. Essentially maintenance free, it reduces both compressed air consumption and noise levels in any blow off and/or cooling application.   It creates a “laminar” flow of air using the Coanda effect entraining in a large volume of air from the surrounding atmosphere along with the small amount of compressed air exiting unit. It produces an output flow up to 40 times the inlet air consumed.

Nex Flow®’s X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives are designed to have one of the most efficient force/air consumption ratios possible.  Compared to our nearest competitor, the X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knife has the same air consumption and force at 60 PSI pressure that the competitor has at 80 PSI.  It requires 10% less energy to produce air at 60 PSI than at 80 PSI making the Nex Flow® significantly more efficient!   When replacing a competitive product with an X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knife there is almost always at the very least equal but more often superior performance!

The X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knife is 25% more efficient than the Standard versions making it the most popular choice for blow off, drying, or cooling applications.

The X-Stream® Air Blade® Air comes in four (4) versions:

Anodized Aluminum is used in the majority of industrial application.  Nex Flow® anodizes their products that are made of aluminum for extra protection in the factory environment.  Most other providers do not.

Hard Anodized Aluminum versions are used in environments where the atmosphere is such that oil mist may deposit onto the air knives.  The Hard Anodizing provides some resistant to the oil sticking to the surface making them easier to clean and to keep clean.  Also, the hard anodizing offers abrasion resistance to materials that may rub against the air knives in some applications, which is ideal for environments where abrasion could occur

303/304 Stainless Steel units are used in high temperature and corrosive environments.

316L Stainless Steel versions apply in food and pharmaceutical environments as well as high temperature and corrosive atmospheres.

Aluminum Silent X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives

Built and designed for significantly longer life in difficult environments than many competing products by anodizing the aluminum body.

Stainless steel shim maintains gap integrity longer than plastic shims.

Most energy efficient design in force/unit of air consumption.

Flexible mounting options and easy to fit in small spaces.

Energy reduction in compressed air use up to 90% and noise reductions of 15 dbA.

Maintenance free with output easily controlled and safe to use.

The Nex Flow® X-Stream® Air Blade® has proven to be of high quality, high performance, and one of the most quiet, if not “the most quiet” designs on the market for all types of blow-off and cooling applications. Also, eliminating a row of drilled pipe can save up to 90% of compressed air costs.

Hard Anodized Aluminum X-Stream® Air Blade® Air Knives

Built and designed for significantly longer life in difficult environments than many competing products by using a special hard coated surface over its aluminum body for mildly corrosive environments and to address any abrasive contact to the surface.

Most energy efficient design in force/unit of air consumption.

Easy to fit in small spaces.

How The  X-Stream Air Blade® Air Knife Works

Compressed air enters the air knife at the rear (or end) ports at (A). Air is entrained at point (B) and (D) by the compressed air stream that leaves the air knife from a small gap at point (C). The entrained air follows the profile that directs the airflow in a perfectly straight line to create a uniform sheet of air along the entire length of the Air Blade® air knife. The amplified air stream maximized velocity and force are maximized as a well-defined sheet of laminar flow with minimal wind shear for reduced energy use in the blow off and cooling.
