Stainless Steel Shim Kit For Air Knives

We are making Air Blade air knife shims with quality stainless steel for long life. We are comparing them to plastic shims often used in competitive products. Dirt, debris, and moisture can quickly wear away plastic shims. And it is in only a few months of using them, even with filtration.

This is why stainless steel is a standard material used in all Nex Flow blow-off products requiring air gaps set by shims. We are using regular anodized aluminum material air knives, rigid anodized aluminum air knives, and stainless steel air knives. The shims are all typically .002” thick (0.05 mm) and with the thickness at a very high tolerance over their length.

• Particular thicknesses can be provided upon request.
• Shims may be stacked on top of the other if more significant air gaps are required on the air knives.
• Commonly 304 stainless steel is used as shim material except for the 316L material products.
• Which utilize 316 stainless steel shims.

In some applications, even stainless steel may be a problem due to atmospheric conditions in the factory environment. We must avoid this situation. Machining the air gap into the air knife design and no shim is necessary in this case.

The air knives supplied by Nex Flow come in two basic designs – the older Standard Air Blade air knife design and the modern, more efficient X-Stream Air Blade air knife design and they each have a different shim configuration.
